Gustavo Delgado Parra

 Honorary organist of México Cathedral, member of the National System of Researchers (SNI 2), a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, president of the Mexican Academy of Ancient Music for Organ (AMMAO) and director of the International Baroque Organ Festival (FIOB). Gustavo Delgado has been awarded several national and international prizes: Premio Universidad Nacional 2013 UNAM in the field of artistic creation and the spread of culture. First prize at the National Orchestral Composition Contest Monterrey 400 (1996). “Mención Única” Premio de Musicología Casa de Las Américas (2008), Primo Premio Assoluto di composizione organistica di Castellana Grotte (It), etc.


Professor at the Faculty of Music National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Ph.D. in Musicology “Cum Laude” at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, earning as well the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award in 2009. A postgraduate in organ and early music studies at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht and Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam. His principal teachers are Gustav Leonhardt (harpsichord) and Ton Koopman (organ); Manuel Enriquez, Federico Ibarra and Daan Manneke (composition).


Gustavo Delgado has served as director and coordinator of several restoration projects of Mexican historic organs of great importance. As a performer and lecturer, he has performed virtually all over Europe, USA, Asia and Mexico. He has published numerous books, including the critical edition of the organ works by José de Torres y Martinez Bravo (Alpuerto 2 vols.), and coeditor of the Obras de Música by Antonio de Cabezón (CSIC 4 Vols.) He has made several recordings for radio, television and CD for national and international companies. In 2008-9 he carried out postdoctoral studies at the Faculty of Music, University of Oxford, assigned to Queens College.


In 2019 he was a visiting professor at Cambridge University and the Hochschule für Muziek und Theatre Felix Mendelssohn in Leipzig.
