Luca Massaglia was born in Turin (Italy). He earned the Organ and Organ Composition degree with top marks at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Turin. He attended masterclasses held by Ludger Lohmann, Louis Robilliard, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini and Bernard Winsemius. He was given private lessons by Prof. Louis Robilliard (at the Cavaillé-Coll organ of Saint-François-de-Sales church of Lyon) and by Prof. Arturo Sacchetti.
He performed concerts as soloist in important venues in Italy, Austria, Belarus, Croatia, England, Estonia, Åland Islands (Finland), France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, U.S.A. and Wales.
He is organist at the Madonna degli Angeli Sanctuary, at the Royal Church of San Lorenzo and at the Sant'Agostino Vescovo Church in Torino.
He was Artistic Director of Note per la Sindone (Notes for the Holy Shroud) Organ Festival, held at Turin in May 2010 on occasion of the celebrations for the Solemn Ostension of the Holy Shroud.
He is the dedicatee of pieces by Milko Bizjak, Dante Boon, Carson Cooman, Giovanna Dongu, Carlotta Ferrari, Eva-Maria Houben, Aare-Paul Lattik, Marco Lo Muscio, Grimoaldo Macchia, Thierry Pallesco, Enrico Pasini, Boryslav Stronko.
He teaches music privately. He was invited to give a masterclass, which took place in April 2016 (subject of the course: the Six Organ Sonatas, op. 65, by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy), at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow.
In 2017 he founded an organ duo together with his wife, the Russian pianist and organist Elena Kalashnikova. Many composers have written specially for them. The duo has given concerts in Italy, Norway, Russia and Sweden.
