Jared Isaac Aragón writes:
The Hopi have a pantheon of deities and spirits known as katsinam. These katsinam are spiritual representations of things found in nature, in the cosmos, or are the remaining spirit of people who have passed on. When shown respect, these spiritual beings can use their specific powers for the benefit of humankind, most notably for the rain needed to water Hopi crops. The Chasing Star Katsina appears and dances in pairs and carries with him a silver bell.
