Fantasy no. 8

By Frederick Frahm. Concert work for organ solo in a series of works exploring musical architecture and symmetry. Subtitled “Chaconne for a Troubled Time”.

Frederick Frahm: Fantasy no. 8, from 10 Fantasies for Organ.

For performers:  take note of fermati over rests to allow the room acoustic to have the music for a moment. Analyze the score for repeated passages and play them on the same registration. In this way the architecture is delineated for the listener and the re-appearance of a sound event reasserts a contextual awareness. This is music about architecture, symmetry, contradiction, and dialog. Do not rush.
